You might be on to something here.

I'm looking forward to the next post to help me understand the difference between a resolution and a mantra, but something about it feels right.

Thanks!

(Also... No way you know Leo. No. Bloody. WAY!)

I'm glad you liked it and are looking forward to what's next. I was struggling with it thinking I had to find my mantra by next week. Then, through conversation, I realized sharing my journey to get there is enough. The journey is the point of life.

Leo is awesome! The power of the internet to connect us all

Oh wow, I didn't realize until I was reading your post that I've been siloing my goals and mantras, and never did they connect. Not never but not often enough. I still have results goals, which I know are a bad idea, but I do. And I've decided to have a very specific "don't equate my worth with my work" mantra this year. But then I've been tracking my work progress, financially specifically. And patting myself on the back when I achieve financial movement BUT not when I do and believe my mantra. I gottta spend some time resetting all this. Thank you. Seriously, thanks for the reminder and clarity. This helps A LOT.

I’m so glad to hear! Thank you for letting me know. Sometimes I have these thoughts and wonder if any of it makes sense to anyone but me. It was powerful for me so I was hoping it would resonate with others.

I used to live and nearly die by goals. Finding your smallest truth links it to the part of you that already embodies that goal.

Please keep me posted. Wishing you a healthy and fulfilling year.

Thanks Miche. Will do. I'll be writing about this in my meditation Substack soon too. Was already planning on sharing my new mantra so its perfect timing. Will tag ya when it comes out.

Having mantras sound so much stronger than goals. Mantras feel so much more intrinsic, like a steady hum that keeps you going, while a goal feels lik ea loud BANG and once it's over it's like... and then what?

This turned out great, Miche!

I saw a research study once that linked leg strength to levels of confidence. Totally makes sense hard to feel solid in yourself when you don’t have a leg to stand.

Nice! That would make a great visual. I didn't realize there was a connection to confidence. That's really interesting.

I loved this Miche. "Feeling strong in your body" is such a great reason to exercise. If this approach was brought to the mainstream instead of people exercising to "burn calories, lose fat, etc." I think we would see an uptake in consistent long-term exercise. Beautiful writing with a fantastic message :)

I believe so too! I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for letting me know. The part of the story I didn't tell was I was in denial about stopping my workouts once I reached my goal and gaining the weight back. I realized I had been gaining and keeping a pound a year. I didn't want to exercise to reach a number. When I thought about how much I enjoyed moving my body as a kid and how I did it for it's own sake, that's when I went on a mission to figure out how to enjoy it so much I just do it automatically. Thank you again for your kind words and your support

I loved the concept of the personal mantra. You can repeat throughout the day or when things get hard. I think it might be more effective than a goal because it reminds you of your purpose and how it feels like to achieve what you set out to do.

I decided to set having a bias towards action and be disciplined as my intentions for this year. I guess I have to think think of a mantra to make my goals more effective. Thanks for the idea Miche!
